November 11

Well, we're moved into the new house and have even painted a couple of rooms - not well, but at least they're painted. We don't have any new pictures to post, but may actually find our underwater dive photos one of these days.

October 8

Sure has been a long time since anyone updated this site. We've been awfully busy the last month and already have most of our new life ready to go. New (used) cars, stereo, TV, furniture and even a house. We won't be moving in until the end of October, so we're still in temp housing a little longer. The big question : what happened to the last trip we took to Barcelona? Well, it was great, but we haven't got the travel journal posted (lazy Americans...) Stay tuned and maybe it will show up soon. Once we get moved in and our shipment unpacked, we can start working on posting all those underwater pictures from the last year.

August 29

We've posted the above water pictures from Derawan, but the underwater pictures will have to wait until after we get to Houston and get settled into our new house. This week is going to be both tough and fun. We've got to get our apartment packed up and on it's way to Houston, which is not much fun. But after we're done with that, we have a couple of days to rest and tie everything up in Singapore, and then four days in Barcelona on the way to Houston. We won't be answering email for a couple of weeks and there won't be much in the way of updates to web site, but check back at the end of September for a last round of pictures from Singapore and a travel journal from Barcelona. And we hope there will alos be pictures of our new house...

August 1

Well, we're getting our act together for our move to Houston, but it is going to be a lot of work. We're looking forward to actually having an autumn this year. We've added a journal for our Hong Kong trip to the web site with a few pictures. We leave tomorrow for Derawan (Indonesia) and will definitely have something to post when we come back next week.

July 2

Well, there's more stuff out on the web site now, including our second trip to Bali. And we're on our way to Hong Kong this weekend, so watch out for more stuff next week!

June 18

Slowly, but surely we'll get the rest of our pictures posted. There a few here now from our housewarming party. Next up : Keith's B-Day party. We're pretty sure that we're now looking at the first half of September to be in Houston. Looking forward to being back in the States, but not looking forward to all the stuff we have to do (that darn driving test!)

June 8

It has been a long time since we have updated anything on the web site, but we're getting things in order and posting a bunch of pictures from the last few months. Our trip to Pattaya,Thailand, for Songkran is there now. Stay tuned over the next week for more. And if you haven't already heard the big news, we are on our way back to the States. Jill has been given a new assignment in Houston and will probably start there in September. Hope to see everyone then!

April 9

We've posted the travel journal from Beijing, plus a few photos from our dive trip to Dayang. Now if only we would sort through all these underwater shots and get some posted...

March 30

It's been a long time since we've updated the web site, but I think we've solved one of the main problems: we've stopped buying 40 exposure film. Whenever we took it in to get developed, the pictures covered 2-3 months! We just returned from our trip to Beijing and are heading on a short dive trip over Easter weekend. We will try to get a travel journal posted on Beijing before we leave, so stayed tuned. In the meantime, we have posted some pictures from Thaipusam and some of Kevin's wedding. We have more coming from San Antonio as well.

Back From Down Under

We are back from our Christmas/New Year trip to Australia. We left for Sydney on Christmas night and arrived on Dec 26, just in time to watch the famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race that began in Syndey Harbor at 1pm. After checking into our hotel, we took a taxi to Watson's Bay to watch the yacht race begin. It was the perfect place to view the race. We stood on a cliff which had both a view of the harbor and of the sea outside of the harbor. There was a great amount of enery in the air with the yachts with sails open, about 15 helicoptors, and hundreds of speedboats. For the next two days we explored Syndey and had a wonderful time eating Australian beef, Australian beer, and enough hot chips (french fries) to last all of 1999! The weather was high 70's with a warm sun and cool breeze. It was a real treat compared to Singapore weather. On Dec 29th we flew north to Townsville. Townsville is a sleepy little town that reminded us of the US in the 1950's. We had an afternoon to cruise the town before heading out on our boat trip. We boarded the boat Spoilsport Tuesday night at 8pm and started on our week of diving. We did about 25 dives in 7 days on the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea, and a ship wreck called the Yongala. We even did one shark feeding dive. Imagine being in the water with 30+ reef sharks (hungry reef sharks). Kidding aside it wasn't dangerous because the sharks only cared about the metal bin with tuna. They didn't give the divers a second glance. On the Yongala wreck we saw Queensland Grouper that were as big as us but fatter. They were an amazing sight but we were told we didn't even see the big one that is the size of a volkswagon. Happy New Year to everyone.
